STREAM 2023-24 : Science to Reach Everyone and Motivate

Students from the nearby schools were being invited for the event . The aim for the event was to motivate the students and showcase the beauty of science. Each club was given a stall . Group of students of around 20 took turns in visiting each stall . Team Oasis exhibited the beauty of ecology . The birds spotted during birding along with butterflies and insects identified during field trips were displayed on  a board . The students looked at each species in awe , realizing the diversity around them . A terrarium was also set up to show the importance of houseplant and also to explain the importance of each species in the environment. A chaotic day indeed, but witnessing their engagement and enthusiasm has been incredibly rewarding.

Oasis Club's Ecology Exhibit

Among the various clubs participating in STREAM 2023, Oasis presented a unique exhibit that celebrated the diversity of local ecosystems. The Oasis team showcased a display of birds, butterflies, and insects documented during field trips and bird watching activities, introducing the students to the vibrant biodiversity around them. Each species was displayed on a board, allowing students to observe details and understand the ecological richness of their surroundings. The display evoked a sense of wonder as students, moving in groups of around 20, explored each exhibit with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Showcasing Ecosystem Dynamics and Environmental Awareness

In addition to the species display, Oasis set up a terrarium to illustrate the importance of houseplants in promoting a balanced indoor environment and fostering a connection with nature. Another highlight was the model of an ecosystem gradient, designed to demonstrate the transitional boundaries where different ecological zones overlap, blending unique elements of two or more environmental spheres. This model helped explain concepts of ecosystem interdependence and ecological balance in a visual, accessible way.

The STREAM 2023 event was a resounding success, generating excitement and leaving a positive impact on all attendees. For the Oasis team, watching young students engage with the exhibits, ask questions, and express genuine interest in science was both fulfilling and inspiring. The chaotic yet rewarding day highlighted the importance of scientific outreach and the role of interactive exhibitions in fostering early interest in ecology and environmental awareness among the younger generation.
