In celebration of Utkal Diwas, our team, Oasis, crafted a special magazine showcasing Odishas rich biodiversity and cultural heritage. The magazine not only highlights the unique flora and fauna endemic to the state but also dives into the intricate architecture and history of its heritage sites and monuments. Through this publication, we aimed to capture the essence of Odisha's natural and cultural landscapes for those who have yet to explore its depths.

Celebrating Utkal Diwas with a Bioheritage Exhibition

In honor of Utkal Diwas, Oasis collaborated with Udbhavana to present an exhibition celebrating the bioheritage of Odisha. This event aimed to showcase the extraordinary biodiversity, cultural richness, and historical significance of the state. The exhibition brought together students, researchers, and members of the local community, creating a platform for sharing knowledge about Odishas unique natural and cultural heritage.


Highlights from the Udbhavana Magazine


A key feature of the event was the release of a special magazine, crafted by the Oasis team, which highlighted the remarkable biodiversity and heritage of Odisha. The magazine delves into various facets of the states natural environment, featuring endemic plant and animal species and exploring their ecological importance. Additionally, it celebrates Odishas architectural grandeur, from ancient temples to iconic monuments, detailing the historical narratives woven into these sites. This publication aimed to provide a deeper understanding and appreciation of Odishas bioheritage for those yet to experience its beauty firsthand.


Showcasing Odishas Cultural Wealth


Alongside its natural wonders, the magazine shines a light on the rich cultural tapestry of Odisha. It includes descriptions of the local tribes, their traditions, and the vibrant dances unique to the region, illustrating the cultural diversity that enriches Odisha. Another distinctive feature was the inclusion of all Geographical Indication (G.I.) tag products recognized in Odisha up to April 1, 2024, celebrating the states contributions to Indias cultural and agricultural identity. This documentation honors the craftsmanship, agricultural practices, and unique products of Odisha, preserving their legacy for future generations.

The Bioheritage Exhibition, held as part of the Udbhavana festival, left a lasting impact on attendees, sparking discussions on conservation and the importance of preserving cultural heritage. Through this event and its magazine, Oasis and Udbhavana succeeded in encapsulating Odishas essenceits biodiversity, heritage, and the spirit of its peoplefostering a sense of pride and awareness within the community and inspiring further exploration and conservation efforts.

GOTI PUA : A group of classical dancers represents the rich cultural heritage and timeless tradition of dance that has been passed down through generations. These dancers specialize in various classical styles, such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Kuchipudi, and Kathakali, each with its unique expressions, footwork, and storytelling techniques. Beyond performances, classical dance groups play a vital role in preserving and promoting Indian culture, inspiring audiences with the depth and beauty of these ancient art forms.
