Birding and Nature Walk at Laudigam (IISER Beach)
Club Oasis organized an immersive birding trip, bringing together nature enthusiasts with a keen interest in birdwatching. This journey aimed to deepen our connection with local biodiversity, allowing participants to observe and understand the unique behaviors and habitats of various avian species.
We began the day early, taking advantage of dawns light when birds are most active. Guided by experienced members, we ventured through trails and strategic birding spots, remaining as quiet and observant as possible to avoid disturbing the wildlife. The landscape was alive with calls, from the cheerful chirps of smaller songbirds to the resonant calls of larger species like raptors. Participants were able to spot and identify a range of birds including Parakeets , Water hen , different species of Kingfishers , Egrets , Crows , Brahminy KItes etc.

Immersive Birding Experience
Club Oasis organized an enriching birding trip to Laurigam, located near IISER Berhampurs campus, to offer nature enthusiasts the opportunity to explore and observe the diverse avian species inhabiting the region. The trip was designed to deepen participants' connection with the local biodiversity while fostering a greater understanding of bird behaviors and habitats. The walk was not only an exercise in birdwatching but also an educational experience, allowing participants to learn about the ecological importance of these species in maintaining the balance of local ecosystems.
Early Morning Birdwatching Adventure
The trip commenced at dawn, the prime time for bird activity, to ensure maximum sightings and engagement. Guided by experienced Oasis members, the group ventured along carefully chosen birding trails and strategic spots within the Laurigam area, maintaining a quiet and respectful approach to avoid disturbing the birds. The landscape was alive with the calls of various bird species, from the high-pitched chirps of smaller songbirds to the deeper, resonant calls of raptors soaring overhead. This early morning serenity provided a perfect setting to connect with nature and observe the behavior of local wildlife in their natural habitats.
Species Observed and Identified
Participants were able to observe a wide range of bird species during the walk, many of which are native to the region. Some of the most notable sightings included vibrant Parakeets, the shy Water Hen, different species of Kingfishers, graceful Egrets, Crows, and the majestic Brahminy Kites. The birding experience was an educational opportunity to not only spot these beautiful creatures but also to learn about their role in the local ecosystem, their migratory patterns, and their behavioral traits. Each sighting sparked excitement and discussions among participants, fostering a deeper appreciation for avian life.
