Campus Exploration and Collection Process
On the evening of June 3, 2023, as part of the World Ecology Day celebrations, the Oasis Club held an innovative and immersive event titled "Eco Blunder." This journal-making competition encouraged participants to explore the natural surroundings of the campus, observe ecological details up close, and express their findings creatively. Participants were given the unique challenge of creating journals by gathering natural elements like leaves, fallen flowers, and insect bodies, providing a tangible connection to the environment. This event underscored the importance of understanding and appreciating the complexities of ecosystems through hands-on interaction.
Creative Documentation and Ecological Insights
As the evening unfolded, participants ventured across the campus, gathering items from the natural environment to include in their journals. The collection process emphasized responsible and mindful engagement with nature, encouraging participants to select only elements that were naturally available, such as fallen leaves, dried flowers, and the bodies of insects. This activity fostered a sense of curiosity and respect for the diversity of flora and fauna on campus, enabling participants to appreciate the life cycles and ecological roles of various organisms. By observing the subtle details in their surroundings, participants gained a heightened awareness of the intricate balance within ecosystems.
See Through/Insights
Once participants returned from their explorations, they began the creative task of assembling their journals. Each journal entry included detailed observations and personal reflections on the natural elements collected, as well as insights into the ecological significance of these specimens. Many participants took the opportunity to reflect on the impacts of environmental disturbances on biodiversity, capturing both the beauty and vulnerability of the natural world. This hands-on documentation process allowed students to combine scientific knowledge with creative expression, producing journals that not only displayed artistic talent but also conveyed a profound ecological message.
"Eco Blunder" was a resounding success, inspiring participants to see the campus environment through a new lens. By merging art and science, the event helped cultivate environmental curiosity and appreciation among students, encouraging them to observe and understand the intricacies of ecosystems more closely. This competition highlighted the Oasis Clubs commitment to fostering environmental awareness through innovative approaches, making learning both memorable and impactful. As participants shared their journals, the event reinforced the message that every element in nature, no matter how small, plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance
