They observed various bird species, like parrots and kingfishers, and explored local plants such as kewda. Immersing in Local Biodiversity: A Birding and Nature Walk
On the chilly dawn of November 24th, 2023, members of Oasis embarked on a birding and nature walk in the area surrounding IISER Berhampur. This early start was intentional, as it allowed the group to observe a variety of bird species in their natural habitats during peak activity hours. The aim of this adventure was not only to witness the vibrant avian life but also to explore and appreciate the plant diversity thriving locally.
The outing combined elements of ecological education with hands-on observation, encouraging participants to engage with the natural world around them. This birding and nature walk represented another step in Oasis's ongoing mission to promote environmental awareness among the IISER community.

During the journey, the group encountered a multitude of bird species, including parrots, herons, cattle egrets, small egrets, eagles, kingfishers, and Indian kites.
