Student Talk Series 2 - February 8, 2025: "Behavioural Code: Cracking the Mystery of Animal Action

As part of the ongoing Student Talk Series initiated by Club Oasis, aimed at fostering student research and knowledge exchange, Sabyasachi Parija presented his research on "Behavioural Code: Cracking the Mystery of Animal Action" on February 8, 2025.

The session started with an intriguing presentation on ant repellency using turmeric, where Sabyasachi discussed his study on the potential effectiveness of turmeric as a natural deterrent for ants. This part of the talk provided fresh insight into how natural substances can influence animal behavior.

In the second half, Sabyasachi shifted focus to animal behavior, particularly the human-wildlife interaction in the Himalayan region, with a special emphasis on the elusive snow leopard. His research shed light on the complex relationship between humans and wildlife in such sensitive ecosystems, offering valuable perspectives on conservation efforts.

The talk highlighted both the potential of natural solutions in addressing environmental challenges and the importance of understanding the intricacies of animal behavior in our rapidly changing world.
