Tech Workshops at IISER Berhampur

Open Source Program

The Open Source Program is an initiative by the Lovelace Society, the Tech Club at IISER Berhampur, aimed at promoting collaborative learning and real-world technical skill development through open-source contributions. The program encourages students to explore modern technologies, work on community-driven projects, and build practical experience by contributing to publicly available repositories.

As part of this initiative, students worked on projects across diverse technology domains, gaining hands-on exposure to development workflows, version control, and collaborative problem solving. The program focused on building solutions that are useful, scalable, and accessible to the broader community.

The program included contributions in areas such as:

  • AI & Prompt Engineering – Developing and optimizing prompts for AI tools and building small AI-powered applications.
  • Web Development – Creating and improving responsive websites and web-based tools.
  • Automation Scripts – Building scripts to automate repetitive academic and productivity tasks.
  • Data Science Projects – Working with datasets for analysis, visualization, and model development.
  • Git & Collaboration – Learning version control, pull requests, issue tracking, and team-based development.

The initiative helped participants understand real-world development practices, strengthen their technical portfolios, and become active contributors to the open-source ecosystem, aligning with the mission of Lovelace Society to foster practical and collaborative learning in technology.
