Annual Outreach event at IISER Berhampur

Stream

STREAM (Science To Reach Everyone And Motivate) is the flagship event organized by the Publications and Outreach Council of IISER Berhampur, in collaboration with all the student-run academic clubs of the institute. This event aims to inspire and engage students from various schools by showcasing the fascinating applications of science in everyday life.

As part of STREAM, the Lovelace Society, the Tech Club at IISER Berhampur, played a key role in showcasing the wonders of robotics and automation through a series of live exhibits and demonstrations. The exhibit featured several autonomous and remote-controlled robots, designed and built by the students, sparking curiosity and excitement among the visiting school students.

The exhibit included:

  • Line-Following Robot – A robot capable of navigating a predefined path using sensor-based guidance.
  • Obstacle-Avoiding Robot – A bot that intelligently detects and avoids obstacles in its path.
  • Fire-Extinguisher Robot – Designed to detect small fires and extinguish them autonomously.
  • Mini Quadcopter – A compact drone demonstrating flight control and aerial robotics.
  • Bluetooth-Controlled Robot – Operated via a mobile app, allowing users to control its movement remotely.
  • Human-Following Robot – A vision-based bot that can detect and follow a person’s movements.

The interactive demonstrations gave school students a hands-on experience with robotics, helping them understand the practical applications of automation and artificial intelligence. The overwhelming response from students and teachers highlighted the growing enthusiasm for technology and innovation, aligning with the mission of Lovelace Society to inspire and cultivate interest in robotics and programming.
