Directly headed by the Secretary of Student Welfare (SWS) and functioning under the Office of Student Affairs and the Dean of Student Affairs (DoSA), the Students Welfare Council handles cases of misconduct, indiscipline, or discrimination within the student community. The council ensures fairness, professionalism, and maintains discipline while preserving the decorum of an institute of national importance.
The SWS coordinates student transport requirements through data collection and requisition to the Transport Office. Transport support is arranged for cultural events, sports tournaments, semester travel, and other institutional needs.
The SWS, along with the SAC President, also plans the schedule for SAC elections and forms an election committee with faculty members, the Computer Centre, Student Affairs Office, and advisors to conduct the elections.
The council manages logistical support for fests, events, and special occasions. It also ensures adherence to institutional rules and reports infrastructure or safety concerns such as wildlife threats, lighting issues, water or electricity problems, and Wi-Fi connectivity issues to the concerned authorities.
Additional responsibilities include coordinating library hour extensions, security arrangements for events, hostel discipline (including anti-ragging measures), and acting as a link between students and the SGRC for sensitive matters.
