Football Club

Football is a celebrated sport at IISER Berhampur, with people always found to be dribbling around the field or juggling a football at the most random of places, including the basketball court. Just like the sport is an integral part of the community, so is the Football club a part of the institute's history. From building the football culture on campus from scratch when we had no ground to play in, to being the first sports club that brought in podium finishes in both men's and women's football at the Inter-IISER Sports Meet, football at IISER Berhampur has come a long way. In a journey full of thorns and struggles, the club has remained a safe space where people find joy and play just for the fun of it. The incredible student community and people in the club ensure that the sport is ensconced in love. The club has room for everyone- the student-athletes who wake up at the crack of dawn to practice, the casual its-raining-let’s-play-football people, and the my-friend-dragged-me-but-I-don’t-know-how-to-play people. It is a club with enthusiastic students who worship the sport, the field they play on, their institute teams, and their favourite football clubs. More than anything else, it is the place where people bond over their shared commitment and love for football.
